Strengths and weak points

xTool's strengths are breadth, polished software (xTool Studio, formerly Creative Space) and features such as cameras, autofocus, passthrough and conveyors. Weak points: a 12-month warranty, several machines certified Class 4 despite their covers, and LightBurn support that varies by model. The most-searched xTool problems are error codes and software connections; see xTool error codes and Creative Space not connecting.

xTool questions

Who makes xTool lasers?

xTool is the laser brand of Makeblock, a Chinese company based in Shenzhen known for its STEM robotics kits. It sells worldwide through xtool.com, Amazon and retailers.

Which xTool laser should I buy?

For most makers: the M2 ($499) as an enclosed first laser, the S1 40W ($1,699) for enclosed wood cutting, the P2S ($2,999) for acrylic and thick cuts, or the F1 Ultra ($2,999) and F2 Ultra ($5,299) for metal.

Does xTool work with LightBurn?

Some models do. xTool lists LightBurn for the S1, P2S and P3 (with limits on camera and autofocus features). The F2 is xTool Studio only. For the F2 Ultra, xTool's FAQ says LightBurn 2.2+ works but a September 2026 review reported support was dropped.
