Quick fix

Test over USB first: if USB works, the problem is Wi-Fi. For Wi-Fi, turn off VPNs, proxies and firewalls, set your router to WPA2 rather than WPA3, avoid special characters in the password, allow local network access on macOS 15+, and try connecting by IP address. For USB, plug straight into the computer and check the driver. Update the software and clear its cache if nothing else works.

If xTool Creative Space (now called xTool Studio) can't find your laser, the cause is usually the network, the computer's security software or a USB driver, not the machine. These steps come from xTool's own support articles (checked October 18, 2026).

Quick fix

Connect with a USB cable directly to the computer. If that works, the problem is Wi-Fi; jump to steps 1–6. If USB also fails, see steps 7–9.

Wi-Fi fixes

1. Turn off VPN, proxy and firewall

xTool says a proxy in your computer's network settings, VPN software, firewalls and antivirus can stop the software reaching the machine. Turn them off, restart the software and the laser, and try again.

2. Allow local network access on a Mac

On macOS 15 or later, open Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network and make sure xTool's software is allowed. Without it the Mac can't see the laser.

3. Check the router's security mode

xTool advises WPA2 or WPA instead of WPA3. If your router uses WPA3 only, switch it to WPA2 (or WPA2/WPA3 mixed) mode.

4. Simplify the Wi-Fi password

xTool's M1 Ultra guide suggests avoiding special characters in the Wi-Fi password, and notes lasers can need a stronger signal than a phone. Move the router closer or add an extender.

5. Connect by IP address

If the machine doesn't appear in the device list, open the Connect device window, choose the IP tab and enter the laser's IP address (find it in your router's list of connected devices).

6. Same network, same band

Make sure the computer and laser are on the same network. Guest networks and some mesh systems isolate devices from each other.

USB fixes

7. Plug straight into the computer

xTool warns that USB hubs, other devices on the hub and the front ports on desktop PCs can prevent a stable connection. Use a rear port directly on the computer and the supplied cable.

8. Check the driver

xTool lists CH340 for D-series lasers, gs32 for the S1, and RNDIS for the F1 Ultra, F1, M1 Ultra, M1 and P2 series. In the software's settings, developer mode shows whether each driver is installed (a grey "Installed" button means it is).

9. Update the software and clear its cache

New machines need the newest software. Update it, and if the problem continues, clear the cache: delete the contents of the Local Storage folder in the software's application data folder (Windows or macOS), then restart.

Still not connecting?

Contact xTool at support@xtool.com with your model, the software version, your operating system and what you tried. If the machine shows an error code instead, see xTool error codes.

Still not working?

If the fixes above don’t help and your laser is out of warranty, a repair can cost more than a replacement. Compare current models before you pay for parts.

Frequently asked questions

Is xTool Creative Space the same as xTool Studio?

Yes. xTool renamed its software from xTool Creative Space (XCS) to xTool Studio; xTool's support site has articles under both names, and newer machines such as the F2 and P3 list xTool Studio.

Does my xTool laser need the same Wi-Fi network as my computer?

Yes, for Wi-Fi control the laser and computer must be on the same local network. If they're on different networks or bands that your router isolates, the software won't find the machine; connect over USB to check.

Why does my xTool connect over USB but not Wi-Fi?

That points to your network rather than the machine. Common causes in xTool's guides are a WPA3-only router, a VPN, proxy or firewall on the computer, a weak signal, or a password with special characters.
