Strengths and weak points

LightBurn-first workflows, built-in water cooling on the Polar Lite and a 2-year warranty. OMTech's budget K40+ is a tinkerer's machine, and the Polar Lite's page doesn't state a laser safety class. See best for small business.

OMTech questions

Is the OMTech K40 good for beginners?

It's the cheapest CO2 laser, but it has manual focus, a small 12 × 8 in bed, basic LaserDRW software and no camera. Most beginners are better served by an enclosed diode laser or the Polar Lite.

Do OMTech lasers work with LightBurn?

The Polar Lite lists LightBurn and RDWorks. The K40+ ships with LaserDRW; OMTech sells a LightBurn Package for it.

What warranty does OMTech give?

The Polar Lite page lists a 2-year warranty, the longest of the machines we cover.
